Description

The Church of Tone (COT) by Lovepedal is a boost/overdrive pedal designed to capture the response of a late '60s plexi loaded with 6550 power tubes. The pedal is known for its simplicity, featuring only a bias control knob for overall gain adjustment. The COT 50 is designed to deliver early Hendrix and Billy Gibbons tones, offering articulate, raw guitar sounds with no compression artifacts. It is intended to be left on all the time, providing a diverse range of tones by varying the guitar's volume knob.

The Lovepedal COT 50 is built with a low-draw circuit that benefits from battery sag, and it is recommended to use carbon batteries for optimal sound. The pedal does not feature additional controls or a 9V-battery socket. It is designed to be transparent and responsive to picking dynamics and guitar volume adjustments. The texture of the pedal is likened to a 50-watt Marshall in its torrid range, offering a sinewy knot of high-midrange complexity with the guitar's volume full up, and a lively Vox shimmer when the volume is rolled back.

The construction of the COT 50 is described as solid, with the circuit, bias knob, and LED encased in epoxy for structural stability and anti-piracy protection. The input and output jacks, stomp switch, and battery harness are all wire-draped, and the battery is securely housed within the pedal.
