The Utility Perkolator MKII by Fredric Effects is an improved version of the fabled Interfax Harmonic Percolator from the 1970s. It features higher gain, lower leakage Russian Germanium transistors, and a low pass filter that removes high-end hisses and glitches associated with the Harmonic Percolator, resulting in a considerably lower noise floor and more predictable note decay. This creates a tighter and more controllable effect while still capable of producing the classic Harmonic Percolator sound.
The pedal also includes a switchable ring modulation circuit for octave effects and DIP switches on the circuit board to remove the low pass filter if desired. The controls include Harmonics for gain, Balance for overall volume, and a Si-Ge Switch for selecting three diode clipping options: Silicon clipping for a smoother sound, Germanium clipping for a grittier sound, and no clipping for a more open and less "fuzz" sound.
The Utility Perkolator MKII is powered by a 9V, center-negative jack or a standard 9V battery, with a current draw of 10mA. It comes with Fredric's 2-year limited warranty and is handmade in London, UK.
