The Grind Fuzz by Heavy Electronics is a discrete fuzz/overdrive hybrid pedal designed to maintain note definition while delivering a massive result with plenty of fuzz and sustain. It allows for tighter definition of chords and arpeggios, making it suitable for various musical styles. The pedal features a thundering fuzz drive at full gain and warm sweet nuances at low gain, providing transparency and fair-handedness to guitars. It also exhibits excellent impedance response with Wahs.

The "Swell" function of the Grind Fuzz adds high-end gain and harmonics, becoming dynamic-compressive at high gain. At full gain, this effect can create a slowly moving EQ (dark to bright) triggered each time the strings are struck, making it superb for slow bends.

Additionally, the pedal includes a side-adjust voltage pot that can be used to drop voltage and sag the entire circuit, providing options for subtle compression of the treble side of the fuzz or extreme gating and unpredictability.
