Elephant Skin

The Elephant Skin by Wren and Cuff is a signature pedal designed in collaboration with Troy Sanders of Mastodon. It is a bass fuzz pedal based on the Tall Font Russian circuit. The pedal features a true hard-wire bypass, allowing for a clean signal path when disengaged. It can be powered by a 9V battery or a 2.1mm adapter and is made in the USA, backed by a lifetime warranty.

The Elephant Skin offers a simple and effective rig for bass players, with a foot-switch that adds an extra gain stage for increased saturation when needed. The added gain stage can be used independently for a slightly gritty clean-boost or combined with the Tall Font Russian side for additional wallop, allowing the XT volume to vary the extra grind.

The pedal houses controls for volume, tone, distortion, and the amount of gain boost (labeled XT), with the boost circuit containing an extra gain stage that can be used for clean boosting or pushing the gain over the edge when cascaded into the fuzz circuit.

The Elephant Skin is highly responsive to attack and delivers excellent clarity with high gain. It offers a finely tuned midrange scoop and treble frequencies that deliver unique edginess. The pedal's volume output is lower compared to most Muffs and Muff-style circuits, providing room for the tone to breathe without becoming overly compressed.
