The Flint by Strymon is a studio-class effects pedal that combines tremolo and reverb in a pedalboard-friendly format. It features three hand-crafted tremolo algorithms: '61 Harmonic Tremolo, '63 Power Tube Tremolo, and '65 Photocell Tremolo. On the reverb side, it offers the classic '60s Spring Tank Reverb, the inventive '70s Electronic Plate Reverb, and the nostalgic '80s Hall Rack Reverb. The pedal provides extensive control over tremolo and reverb characteristics with nine parameters to tweak.
The second generation Flint incorporates technological advancements, hardware improvements, and design enhancements. It offers full MIDI implementation, allowing remote control of switches, knobs, and settings via MIDI commands. Tremolo speed can be synchronized via MIDI Clock Sync, and 300 MIDI preset locations are available for loading and saving favorite settings. The pedal also features a premium analog JFET input circuit, mono or stereo input selection, and a new ARM DSP chip for enhanced processing power with reduced energy consumption.
The Flint's controls include tremolo speed, intensity, and effect engagement, as well as reverb time, tone, and effect selection. It also offers true/buffered bypass, stereo output, and an expression pedal input for continuous control over the pedal's knobs. The pedal can be powered by a 9VDC, center-negative, 300mA minimum power supply and features a USB jack for MIDI control from a computer or firmware updates.
