Description

The JHS Colour Box V2 is a versatile preamp, EQ, and distortion generator designed to replicate the sounds of "direct-in" electric guitar recordings. It features a combination XLR/TS jack with a switch between instrument and microphone input, and separate XLR and 1/4” outputs. The pedal runs on standard 9V DC center negative power, consuming 193mA.

The Gain section includes three controls: Master, Pre-Vol, and Step. The Master volume controls the overall volume, while the Pre-Vol adjusts the amount of gain between the internal gain stages. The Step control increases the gain in five stages, ranging from +18 dB to +39 dB.

The Colour Box V2 also includes a Hi/Lo switch for clean headroom control, a -20dB pad switch for XLR input mode, and an output transformer. The EQ section has three Shift controls for precision EQ adjustments, along with standard Treble, Middle, and Bass controls. The Hi-Pass section features a 2nd order 6dB per octave highpass filter with adjustable cutoff frequency.

The pedal measures 5.7” x 3.75” x 1.85” and is designed for mono input/mono output, with true bypass mode. It is made in the USA and does not work on batteries.
