The Cat Tail by Fuzzrocious is a low to high gain distortion pedal with overdrive capabilities, often likened to a fuzz at high gain settings. The circuit is based on a classic distortion, modified to better meet the needs of guitarists and bassists. The pedal features a diode toggle for extra tweakability for clipping options and the Beavis double resistor mod for fine- tuning signal clipping on the highs and lows.
Key Features:
- Volume control for adjusting the output of the circuit
- Tone filter for transitioning from treble to bass
- Distortion knob for adjusting the level of drive/distortion
- Clipping 1 and 2 pots for fine-tuning signal clipping
- Diode toggle for changing the clipping diodes from 1n914 silicon to no
diodes to LEDs
Modifications:
- Feedback mod for oscillation/feedback/noise via a momentary or latching
footswitch
- Killswitch mod for muting the sound passing through the pedal via a
momentary footswitch
- 2nd distortion mod for switching between two distortion presets using a
latching footswitch
Power:
The pedal requires a 9V DC 2.1mm center negative tip adaptor, as it does not
support batteries due to the risk of damage to the unit and ecological
concerns related to battery use and disposal.
Enclosure Dimensions:
- Length: 117 mm / 4.6 in
- Width: 92 mm / 3.6 in
- Height: 34 mm / 1.3 in
Weight:
- 311 g
The Cat Tail is designed to be compatible with both guitar and bass and is housed in an all-metal enclosure with hand-painted graphics. It also features space-saving top-mounted jack sockets and an LED power indicator.
