The Bellwether by Walrus Audio is a bucket brigade delay pedal with tap tempo, offering analog circuitry and up to 1000ms of lush delays. It can achieve warm saturated sounds found in delays like the Maxon AD999 and the coveted Boss DM-2. The repeats can be brightened up with the tone control for more pronounced rhythmic delays. The Analog Chorus Engine allows manipulation of the depth and rate of the chorus effect applied to trails, creating a deep soundscape of ambient modulation.
The pedal features four tap division options to control the rhythm of repeats: quarter notes, eighth notes, dotted eighth notes, and triplets. Expression control options are offered to swing either the time or repeat controls back- and-forth. The Bellwether has seven rotary controls with black aluminum knobs for Tap Division, Time, Repeats, Tone (high-cut), Level of repeats, and the Analog Chorus Engine’s Rate and Depth. It has five ¼ inch input jacks on the top side of the enclosure: input, two outputs, an effects loop, and expression control. The expression jack receives a TRS input to manipulate time or repeats, selectable by a toggle on the front of the pedal. There are two heavy-duty footswitches: one for effect on/off and the other controlling the tap tempo.
The Bellwether comes in a telephone red texture enclosure and has dimensions of 5 ⅝” x 4 ⅝” x 1 ½”. The power requirements are 9VDC (100mA minimum), and the use of an isolated power supply is recommended. Daisy chain power supplies are not recommended.
