STATUS

The STATUS by Step Audio is a powerful MIDI Display, Clock Generator, and Mapper. It features 16 large bright red alphanumeric LEDs and is programmable to add MIDI Clock to an existing stream of MIDI data or work as a stand-alone device. The pedal responds to MIDI Program Changes by sending out up to 5 different Program Changes as well as 16 Control Change or Note On messages, all on separate MIDI Channels. It can also actively filter various types of incoming MIDI data, dynamically re-map two separate controllers, and rectify running status data.

The pedal is compatible with any MIDI controller and must be on the same MIDI channel as the controller. It features various connections and controls, including Knob/Button, MIDI IN Jack, MIDI THRU Jack, MIDI OUT Jack, SWITCH Jack, and 9vDC Power Jack. The display consists of 16 large bright red LEDs that show custom messages, tempo in Beats Per Minute (BPM), and MIDI data, as well as providing a programming interface.

The pedal offers different modes of operation, such as Program Name Display, Tempo Display, Data Display, MIDI Map, and Program Copy. It also allows for the creation and editing of presets, including custom preset names and the storage of separate MIDI Clock tempos. Additionally, the pedal supports the display of custom STATUS Messages at any time using SysEx Data.

The audio coding scheme used in the pedal is based on the MPEG-4 High Efficiency Advanced Audio Coding v2 (HE AAC v2) profile, with specific restrictions and requirements for the DAB system environment. The audio super framing syntax is defined to carry the encoded audio for 120 ms, and each audio super frame is carried in five consecutive logical DAB frames.
