The ProCo Whiteface Rat Reissue is a limited edition pedal based on the legendary 1985 "Whiteface" version. It is designed with the same steel chassis, circuit board layout, large CTS pots, and the crucial LM308 chip as the original. The pedal features a classic three-knob layout comprising Distortion, Filter, and Volume controls.
The Distortion control offers three different types of distortions, ranging from bluesy overdrive to biting distortion to fuzzed-out sonic bliss. The Filter control acts as a reverse tone control, allowing adjustments to harmonic frequencies provided by the RAT. The Volume control manages the overall pedal gain.
The pedal is housed in a black U-shaped chassis with white graphics, reminiscent of the original design. It features mono input and outputs, a 9V jack, and a battery compartment on the backside.
The Whiteface Rat Reissue is known for its versatility, capable of achieving classic '80s tones as well as infinite sustain, harmonic distortion, and growly fuzz. It has found its way into various genres, including blues, grunge, stoner rock, doom, and drone, making it a highly versatile pedal for players of all types.
The pedal is built like a tank and is a limited run, with only 2000 units produced. It is available for purchase at a street price of $199.99.
