The Optimist by Jackson Audio is a versatile overdrive pedal designed to provide a full range of drive levels for punchy rhythm to soaring lead. It features two overdrive circuits, OD1 and OD2, as well as a 3-band equalizer and MIDI control over all functions. The technical specifications are as follows:
- Input Impedance: 1M
- Output Impedance: 100k
- Power Supply: DC
- Voltage Input: 9V MAX
- Polarity: Center Negative
- Minimum Current Required: 150mA
- Dimensions: 2.7” x 4.875′′
The pedal also includes a studio-grade EQ with high bandwidth and flat response at 12:00, +/- 12dB boost/cut per control, and center detents on the pots to make it easier to get back to a neutral or flat response. The EQ can be activated by pressing and releasing both the OD1 and OD2 footswitches.
MIDI control allows for unlimited selection of tones, with the default MIDI channel set to 1, which can be changed by pressing and holding the OD1 footswitch while applying power.
The pedal receives MIDI information via the RING connection on a TRS (Tip, Ring, and Sleeve) connector, and MIDI features can be accessed via Control Changes.
Overall, The Optimist by Jackson Audio offers a wide range of tonal flexibility and control, making it a valuable addition to any guitarist's setup.
