The Wizard by Castledine is a distortion pedal inspired by Tony Iommi's guitar sound on the early Black Sabbath albums. It features a modified Rangemaster treble booster and a distortion circuit designed to emulate the tone and feel of a Laney Supergroup amp. The first gain stage utilizes a germanium transistor tweaked for a full range boost, driving the distortion circuit. The pedal is true bypass and operates on 9V DC power, with the option for battery or external power supply. It is designed with a negative earth, eliminating the need for a dedicated power supply. The pedal is hand-built and hand-wired, featuring NOS Philips and Fairchild transistors, Cliff jack sockets, and a 9V DC socket. The pedal measures 4.7" x 7.5" and comes with a five-year warranty.
