The Roger Mayer Spitfire is a fuzz guitar effect designed to produce classic triode tube distortion rich in harmonics, maintaining the guitar's original tone characteristics. It is a low noise analog high gain design, stable, and free from radio and electronic interference. The Spitfire has a greatly increased output level, enabling it to overdrive the front end of any amp very hard, producing feedback at low sound levels and a virtually never-ending sustain. The overall EQ has been carefully developed to produce a well-rounded fatness and musical tone, avoiding the nasal or fizzy thin type of fuzz sound common with digital modellers.
The Spitfire features an Output Level and Drive or Gain control, powered by an internal 9 Volt battery with an operational life of over 150 hours. It also has front-end buffering for better interfacing with standard wah pedals, a fatness control, hard wire (true bypass) or two buffered outputs, easy battery access, standard DC powering jack, LED status indicator, rapid battery change, long battery life, and external power adapter/supply compatibility. The pedal is designed to be pedal board-friendly and has dimensions of Width 170 x Depth 112 x Height 57mm, weighing 618g with the battery.
The Spitfire X model includes additional features such as multi-mode outputs with hard wire bypass or two buffered outputs, an LED status indicator, rapid battery change, long battery life, external power adapter/supply compatibility, and an ergonomic design suitable for pedal board setups.
