The Rocktron Nitro Tonal Definition Booster is a guitar pedal designed to enhance a player's articulation through soft compression and intense boosting. It offers over 22dB of gain and features a single Boost control knob and a footswitch button for activation. The pedal is intended to turn decent amp distortion into great amp distortion, make harmonic squeals easier to achieve, and broaden the capabilities of pickups. The Boost control provides the level of enhancement and boost, and the pedal can be powered by a 9 Volt battery or an optional 9VDC external power adaptor. The Nitro Booster pedal usually sounds better when placed before all other stomp boxes in the signal chain. It is recommended to use lower settings of the boost control for additional edge in chordal work or for enhanced articulation, and higher settings for solos or special effects that need to "jump out" of the mix.
