- Combination of surface mount and through-hole components
- White powder-coated enclosure with two-color screen printing
- Made in the USA, from circuit boards to final assembly
Features:
- 3 pitch modes: detune, density, LFO
- 5 delay modes: random, density, LFO, random pitch, reverse
- Adjustable grain size
- Pitch shift range: +/- 1 octave, depending on mode
- Delay range: 0-900 ms, depending on mode
- Feedback
- Auto-freeze/stutter with adjustable threshold
The Particle V2 uses a much more powerful processor and is a full-fledged granular processor capable of generating dozens of simultaneous grains. It keeps the immediacy and control of the original Particle, with improved fidelity, usability, and tweaks to some of the knob responses. Some of the improvements include a smaller enclosure with all jacks on top, stereo (TRS) input/output with mono or stereo input, random stereo panning, presets (4 on the front panel, 127 via MIDI), soft-touch switches, momentary freeze footswitch, tap tempo with note divisions, higher sampling rate, higher headroom, better signal-to-noise ratio, improved pitch shifting, longer delay time, longer maximum grain size, more simultaneous grains, multiple pitch quantization settings, multiple feedback types, additional parameters, ability to combine parameters from different modes, USB MIDI, multi-purpose control port for expression pedal, CV, remote switches, and more.
The Particle V2 chops the signal into small grains and then does various strange, trippy, robot things to it, using the techniques of granular synthesis in real time. Results range from radical pitch and delay modulation to shimmering repeats to stutter/glitch sounds.
