The Chime by Pettyjohn Electronics is a studio-grade boutique guitar pedal designed to deliver high-quality overdrive tones with a wide range of gain and tone shaping capabilities. Here are the technical specifications and features:
- Power: The Chime operates with a dual-rail power section, allowing for 9V
to 18V operation.
- Gain Control: The pedal features a wide gain range with two interactive
controls for adding drive. The Gain knob includes a Gain mod for 2.5x the
original Chime's gain on tap.
- Boost Control: The pre-boost control adds extra presence and grit to the
signal.
- Clipping Selection: Three carefully designed clipping options are
available, including Yellow LED, Germanium Diodes, and a combo mode.
- Low Cut Selection: Three carefully selected low cut frequencies interact
with the gain control and clipping section to provide easy recall for
different guitars, amps, and even bass.
- Tilt EQ: An audiophile approach to tone control, the Tilt EQ circuit is
carefully voiced to compliment the clipping options and utilizes Orange Drop
tone caps for a musical sweetness not normally found in a pedal.
- High Performance Power: The pedal utilizes a dual-rail power section with
9V to 18V operation range, providing 18V-36V of voltage swing for huge
internal headroom while drawing under 100mA.
- Audiophile, Studio-Grade Performance: The Chime incorporates Burr Brown OPA
input buffer, classic TL072, and JRC4558 stages carefully implemented for
warmth and feel. It also uses audiophile-grade, through-hole 1% Metal Film
resistors and top-shelf WIMA and Silver Mica caps in tone-sensitive
operations.
- Enclosure: The pedal is housed in a nearly indestructible two-plate custom
enclosure forged from mild steel in the USA.
Additionally, the Chime Version 3 offers various upgrades and custom shop options, including inductor-based EQ or a transformer option for authentic analog magnetics.
