The Blackcap by Old Blood Noise Endeavors is a dual asynchronous harmonic tremolo pedal that combines analog and digital tremolos in one unit. The analog tremolo features controls for Rate, Depth, and Volume, while the digital tremolo offers controls for Rate, Depth, Volume, Tap Tempo, and five selectable waveforms. The pedal also includes a series/parallel toggle to run the analog into digital or both side by side, as well as an external tap tempo jack.
The digital tremolo can be shifted up or down in speed using the Ramp Mode by holding down the Tap Tempo switch. It also features a subdivision toggle to set the tap tempo to deliver either Quarter notes, Eighth notes, or Triplets. The pedal is equipped with relay bypass switching and requires a 9V DC center negative 2.1mm jack power supply capable of 110mA (not included).
The Blackcap pedal offers a wide range of tremolo effects, from slow sways to flickeringly fast tremolo chops, and from supremely slow waves to shooting synthy pulses. It allows for independent use of the analog and digital tremolos or their combination in series or parallel for unique modulating sounds. The pedal's tap tempo feature enables synchronization with the beat of the music, offering the ability to create new evolving textures on the fly.
The pedal's dimensions are 14.3 × 10.9 × 8.5 cm, and it weighs approximately 0.49 kg. The art of the Blackcap is by Jeffrey Alan Love.
For more detailed information, the Blackcap manual is available on the manufacturer's website.
