The Afterneath V1 by EarthQuaker Devices is an otherworldly reverberation machine that utilizes a swarm of short delays to create wild and cavernous reverbs and scattered, short rhythmic delays with bizarre characteristics. The controls allow users to stretch, smudge, swell, and even self-oscillate into messy ambient washes of sound. The technical specifications and features include:
- Dimensions: 4 5/8″ x 2 1/2″ x 2.25″ with knobs
- Power: Standard 9 volt DC power supply with a 2.1mm negative center barrel.
Pedal-specific, transformer-isolated wall-wart power supplies or multiple
isolated-output supplies are recommended. Current draw is 65 mA.
- Controls:
- Length: Adjusts the decay length of the reverb
- Diffuse: Controls the spread of the reverb, sharper with more attack
counter-clockwise, more ambient and washy clockwise
- Dampen: Adjusts the tone of the reverb, brighter tones clockwise, darker
tones counter-clockwise
- Drag: Separates the delay lines, creating a stuttering, pingy effect
- Reflect: Controls the regeneration of the reverb, self-oscillates if turned
up high
- Mix: Blends the wet signal into the dry, gradually lowering the clean level
as turned clockwise
The Afterneath V1 is true bypass with an all-digital reverb engine, an all- analog dry signal path, and is hand-made one at a time in Akron, Ohio.
