The Disaster Area Designs DMC-3XL Gen3 is a compact MIDI controller featuring advanced Gen3 technology in a sturdy cast aluminum enclosure measuring 4.8” x 2.6” x 1.4” (120mm x 66mm x 35mm). Its features include soft-touch footswitches, a blue LED display with 10 brightness levels, a 5-pin MIDI port, a 9vDC power jack, and a USB port with USB-MIDI functionality or optional USB Host compatibility. The DMC-3XL Gen3 also includes a 1/4″ jack for expression pedal or tap tempo switch, and a MultiJack that functions as an expression pedal input, tap tempo input, tap tempo output, or MIDI output with the Disaster Area TRS to MIDI Adaptor Cable. Additionally, it offers optional side roller assignable to expression or looper level.
The Gen3 model introduces new features such as improved LED indication and display, built-in SMARTClock, user-definable CC Command Mode, optional gHOST Compatibility, separate expression and roller configuration, MIDI input and output, and easy firmware update. It also supports up to four MIDI devices plus any combination of Disaster Area pedalboard switching systems, and can control an external USB-MIDI device including popular models like the Zoom MS-50G, MS-60B, and MS-70CDR using its native USB port.
The DMC-3XL Gen3 is designed to simplify selecting programs, send expression or tap tempo, or keep devices locked into a MIDI clock. It can control the loop recorder / looper on several popular devices such as the Strymon Timeline, Eventide H9, and Line 6 M9 / M13. When used with multiple pedals, it can send simultaneous commands to all connected pedals to select specific patches with a single tap, and seamlessly control the DPC-8EZ switching systems. The Gen3 model also introduces Clock Mode, allowing users to select tempo by BPM or tap in a new tempo at any time.
The DMC-3XL Gen3 is compatible with a wide range of MIDI devices from various manufacturers, offering full MIDI control support for devices such as Strymon, Eventide, Line 6, Chase Bliss, Boss, Electro-Harmonix, Pigtronix, Alexander, Empress, Free The Tone, Meris, Source Audio, DigiTech, and general MIDI devices.
