The Ace Tone FM-2 is a professional fuzz pedal manufactured in Japan by Ace Electronic Industries Inc. It was produced in the late 1960s to early 1970s. The FM-2 features a volume knob with an on/off pot and a Fuzz Adjust knob, which allows for adjustment of the fuzz tone from dark to bright. It also includes a 'Normal-Fuzz' true bypass switch for turning the effect on/off, and a 'Tone Selector' switch for toggling between two different tone settings. Tone1 offers a darker, more evil sounding nature that is scooped and bassy, while Tone2 is characterized by a more upfront, mid-heavy sound. The pedal is known for its unruly and unpredictable nature, offering an octave (pitch doubling) circuit and an intense, all-out, crazy fuzz effect. The FM-2 is one of the earliest pedals to feature true bypass switching.
