The Vox Joe Satriani Big Bad Wah is a dual-mode wah pedal designed in collaboration with guitarist Joe Satriani. It offers two distinct wah sounds in a single pedal, providing a wide range of wah effects. The pedal features two footswitchable wah circuits, Wah 1 and Wah 2, each with unique characteristics.
Wah 1 replicates the classic VOX wah sound with a sweet UK tone, while Wah 2 introduces Joe Satriani's original drive and voice controls, allowing for a broad spectrum of sound-creation possibilities. The Drive knob on Wah 2 mimics the Wah 1 gain at its lowest setting and delivers a 10 dB boost at the maximum setting, producing aggressive, growling overtones. The Voice switch on Wah 2 provides traditional wah voicing or a dark, resonant tone reminiscent of a vintage talk-box.
The pedal also includes an Inductor switch, allowing users to select between a vintage UK-style inductor and a modern USA-style inductor. The design of the pedal pot itself is customized to Joe Satriani's specifications, delivering a smooth, musical tone throughout the entire sweep of the pedal.
