The Gulf by Swindler Effects is a fully analog bucket brigade chorus/vibrato with digital control, offering a range of popular chorus features in a compact and affordable package. The pedal features SMD circuit construction for increased reliability and consistency, reduced bypass pop potential, improved sound clarity and openness, and an upgrade to Vimex pots, DC jack, and soft foot-switch. It also includes an upgrade to Neutrik jacks, improved wet signal headroom, and improved internal tone control for a wider range.
The Gulf is designed as a stereo chorus pedal with controls for Speed, Depth, and Blend. The Speed and Depth parameters can be controlled via an external expression pedal, while the Blend knob allows users to blend from dry signal to chorus, to vibrato, and everything in-between. The pedal offers five selectable tap-tempo divisions for the speed and a Delay knob to shift the wet signal for more extreme warble.
Additionally, The Gulf contains one onboard, savable preset, which can be activated by holding the bypass switch or through an external favorite switch, depending on the expression configuration. The pedal also features a ramp function activated by holding the tap-tempo footswitch, allowing the speed of the chorus to increase or decrease on each hold, depending on the selected ramping mode. The speed of the ramp can be adjusted by turning the speed knob while holding the tap-tempo footswitch, and the ramping mode can be changed by adjusting the toggle switch while holding the tap-tempo footswitch.
The pedal includes a 3-way waveform toggle (W) with options for sine wave, triangle, and square wave, providing a wide range of modulation options. The Gulf has a current draw of 85mA (9V Center Negative) and dimensions of 4.7 x 2.6" x 1.5". It also features an internal micro-USB jack for customer updatable firmware and full MIDI control through a TRS expression jack.
