The British Pedal Company Compact Series Zonk Machine is a compact, modern replica of the original Zonk Machine MKI pedal that was developed by Wilsic Sound for John Hornby Skewes and produced in Leeds, England from 1965 to 1966. The design and circuit topology of the Zonk Machine looks very similar to the original MKI Tone Bender (designed by Gary Hurst) that uses a 3-transistor circuit, but the modified circuit offers a slightly different, tighter tone with less low-end and more boost than the Tone Bender.
