The Blacksmith by BBE is an all-analog distortion pedal designed to provide a heavier, chunkier distortion for tube amps. The pedal features a gain, volume, and passive 3-band PLEX-EQ controls, along with an LED-based gain circuit for smooth, high-output distortion. It has a 1MEG Ohms input impedance for proper pickup loading and 1K Ohms output impedance when engaged. The pedal also includes 1% metal-film resistors for consistency, high-voltage poly caps for better tone, and a military-spec circuit board for reliability. Additionally, it is equipped with a true hardwire bypass, a blue status LED for high visibility and low power consumption, and an easy access battery compartment.
The Blacksmith pedal is inspired by the distortion pedals hand-made by Paul Gagon in the 1980s and is designed to work with a variety of quality tube amps, from Mesa to Fender. It aims to deliver the classic Marshall tonal balance with added force and consistency.
