The AMT Electronics P-Drive mini is a JFET distortion pedal designed for electric guitarists seeking distortion sounds similar to those of Peavey 5150 and 6505 amplifiers. It features analog (JFET) vacuum tube circuit modeling technology, providing bright, rich, full, and powerful distortion sounds. The pedal includes GAIN, TONE, and output LEVEL controls, as well as a voicing slide switch for neutral balanced or boosted mids. It also has a bright red on/off LED indicator and true bypass circuitry to preserve the instrument's tone when not in use.
The pedal is housed in an ultra-compact metal enclosure and requires a 9-12 Volts DC power supply with a consumption of less than 4mA. It can be powered by a 9 or 12 Volt AC/DC adapter (not included). The P-Drive mini is designed to be connected in front of a clean channel input of guitar combos or amplifiers and does not have a cabinet simulated output. The resulting sound is influenced by the combo or amplifier used, as well as the speakers installed in the cabinet.
In terms of controls, the sensitivity and drive/distortion amount are determined by the position of the GAIN control, while the overall output level is determined by the LEVEL control. The pedal also features a simplified TONE control for general tone matching and a VOICE switch to cut some mids. The P-Drive mini is known for its aggressive sound, emulating the sound and response of Peavey 5150 and 6505 amplifiers.
Overall, the AMT Electronics P-Drive mini offers guitarists warm, crisp, natural tube sounds of their favorite high-gain amplifiers while preserving the individuality and tone of the instrument and equipment.
